Work with Ben during the day and continue at night if you like, take walks in the woods, sleep in our comfortable guest appartment (23m2, with private bathroom, kitchen and balcony), enjoy Kieke's delicious meals or eat out at the village's Michelin star restaurant. So much more than a bookbinding class!
Rates
• Private tuition €500 per day (ex. VAT, including lunch, tea/coffee)
Rates for pairs or groups are available on request
• Accommodation €75 per night (ex. VAT / optional)
• Pick-up service from trainstation in Karlsruhe or Strasbourg €35 (ex. VAT / optional)

Spending two days learning to make the Onion Binding Version 2.0 with Ben Elbel was binding heaven.
I learned many of his techniques and tricks and saw demonstrations using his special binding equipment.
My stay in the spacious new apartment built upstairs from the bindery included delicious meals prepared by Kieke and daily walks through the lush mountains surrounding their new home in a charming little town.It was definitely a worthwhile experience to have a one-on-one lesson with a master binder in his own bindery. I highly recommend a trip to Lembach to study with Ben in a beautiful environment.

I’ve just spent an amazing four days working with the wonderfully talented Ben Elbel on a wedding album. I’ve been asked to make a few of these lately for family and wanted to create something a little different. An album that could accommodate individual cards and special pieces, with the box becoming part of the structure itself. Ben’s Shrigley structure was the perfect starting point. Over dinner with Ben & Kieke on my first night, the ideas began flowing.
Over the next four days, in Ben’s amazing bindery with all his cool tools, his engineering brain worked its magic and we developed something I think is both beautiful, practical and a little bit different. Ben is an exceptional tutor, who really took the time to understand what I wanted to create and shared all those little techniques and processes that make such a difference to the finished piece. Four days of designing, problem-solving, learning and plenty of laughter. What an absolute treat!
Thank you Ben.Kieke was the most amazing host! She thought of everything I could need as I stayed in the apartment above the bindery. She also cooked amazing lunches every day which we shared in their backyard which was just idyllic. Thanks Kieke for helping make my stay so wonderful!
